Improvement Law
The CoreTex law is a fixed public exam. For each profile, a candidate is tested on two fixed partitions, gate and confirm, and both must pass. The cases are not chosen by wallet, rig, epoch, retry count, or private randomness.
The law tracks quality Q, resources R, and a fixed resource cap C. The serialized envelope fields are simply E = C. A fuel or cost saving never shrinks the cap for future miners; a later quality improvement can reuse saved capacity as long as it stays under C.
Conversation's 1.1.0 caps are 135 million fuel on gate, 265 million on confirm, and 1.2 million logical storage bytes on each. Encoder work and vector storage are included, so conversation uses more fuel than the lexical profiles. Exact caps come from the live parent-vector response; larger raw fuel does not mean larger rewards.
There are two ways to advance:
- Quality: the composite score improves by at least one ppm. Individual objectives may trade a little, but no objective may fall more than 2.5 points from the parent or below the genesis floor, and total gains must be at least twice total dips.
- Efficiency: composite quality holds, every measured resource is no worse than the exact parent, and at least one resource is strictly lower.
If both apply, the candidate is treated as quality. A same-quality successor cannot give back a resource saving, but a genuine quality successor may spend capacity inside the fixed cap. Storage has one special practical limit: because the storage meter is add-only for candidate artifacts, storage-only efficiency is not available from genesis. Storage is spend-then-reclaim after a quality candidate has first spent some of the storage budget.
